Split Panes to Watch and Work
What This Does
Divide your terminal window into multiple panes so you can run a command in one pane and watch its output while working in another.
Why It's Useful
Run a command and observe output side-by-side. Monitor logs while editing files, or watch test results while writing code. No window switching required.
How to Do It
- Press Command + D to split the window vertically
- Click in either pane to focus it
- Press Command + Shift + D to close the split pane
Try This Now
Split your window with Command + D, then run ping -c 5 google.com in the left pane. While it runs, use the right pane to check your current directory with pwd.
Mental Hook: Watch and work side-by-side.
