Shift + Trackpad = Extend Selection

• Rest one finger on the trackpad. Hold Shift.
• Click to place the insertion point, hold Shift, then tap/click elsewhere to select the range.
• Keep holding until the result appears.
• Lift and release the modifier.
• Rest two fingers on the trackpad. Hold Shift.
• While holding Shift, two-finger swipe: left/right extends horizontally; up/down extends vertically.
• …and back the other way.
• Keep holding until the result appears.
• Lift your fingers. Release the modifier.
