Enable Gmail Shortcuts
What This Does
Gmail keyboard shortcuts are disabled by default. Enabling them lets you archive, reply, search, and navigate without touching the mouse.
Why It's Useful
Power Gmail users process hundreds of emails daily. Mouse-driven Gmail is 3–5x slower once shortcuts become muscle memory.
How to Do It
- Gmail → Settings (gear) → See all settings
- Under General, find Keyboard shortcuts → select Keyboard shortcuts on
- Click Save Changes at the bottom
- Press ? in Gmail to open the shortcut cheat sheet
Try This Now
Enable shortcuts, then press ? and bookmark the help overlay.
Mental Hook: Shortcuts off = Gmail with handbrake on.
