Choosing the Right Account
What This Does
When multiple accounts are signed in, Google uses a default account for new Google tabs and some app opens. The default is usually the first account you signed into on that browser.
Why It's Useful
Opening docs.new while the wrong account is default creates a document in the wrong Drive. Fixing ownership later wastes time.
How to Do It
- Sign out of all accounts, then sign into your primary work account first
- Or click your avatar → pick the account → Make default if shown
- Before creating files, glance at the avatar and account email
- Use Chrome Profiles for true isolation between work and personal defaults
Try This Now
Sign out, sign into your work account first, then open docs.new and confirm the file lands in the correct Drive.
Mental Hook: First signed in = default—choose deliberately.
